What’s more entertaining than battling out a huge water war with your friends on a hot summers day? That’s right, water guns are fun, for children as well as for grownups.
You could choose to go to combat with an old-school water pistol, but you won’t win. What you should do instead is upgrading to a powerful Nerf Super Soaker blaster.
Some of these Nerf Super Soakers are indeed quite sophisticated weapons, designed to unapologetically out-drench your opponents.
Ready for some water action? In this article I am recommending 5 of the best water blasters you can get your hands on.
What Are Super Soakers?
Contrary to what many people may think, Nerf is actually not the inventor of the Super Soaker brand. Toy manufacturer Larami came up with the name in the late 80’s.
Interesting fact in this story is that the real inventor of the Super Soaker water gun is a gentleman named Lonnie Johnson, a former NASA engineer who worked on some huge projects such as the Space Shuttle.
In his spare time, Lonnie enjoyed inventing things. And one of his hobby inventions was a high-power water gun which he first prototyped in 1982. It wasn’t until 1989 that he came in touch with Larami who was keen to bring this water gun to market.
The very first water gun they produced was called the Power Drencher, a name that captured the essence of the product quite well! A couple years later the water gun was rebranded to Super Soaker, and has been a great success ever since.
Nerf’s parent company, Hasbro, purchased Larami in 1995 and with that became the owner of the Super Soaker brand. Since then, Nerf has successfully produced lots of awesome water guns in the Super Soaker series with no end in sight.
5 Best Nerf Super Soakers
Keen to get yourself a brand new water gun? Here are my 5 personal favorite Nerf Super Soaker blasters.
1. Nerf Super Soaker Soakzooka
Released in 2018, the Soakzooka deserves a mention for its name alone. If you want to completely drench your enemies, the Nerf Super Soaker Soakzooka is the one and only water blaster you need.
The biggest draw card of the Soakzooka is its massive tank which can hold up to 55 ounces (1.6 liters) of water. Then all you need to do is pull the ergonomic handle back and forth to offer your friends a free shower.

2. Nerf Super Soaker Twin Tide
Surprise your enemies with two different water streams! The 2018 Twin Tide can carry up to 33 ounces (0.975 liters) of water that gets blasted through two barrels for double soakage.
Also take note of the size of this water blaster. It’s by no means heavy, but with a length of almost 15 inches, the Twin Tide has quite an intimidating appearance.

3. Nerf Super Soaker Breach Blast
The Breach Blast is an allround well-performing Super Soaker with a firing range of 38 feet and a water reservoir that can hold 50 ounces (1.48 liters) of water. The reason why the reservoir is so big is because the blaster is designed such that the handle can also carry water.
The refilling and pump action of the Breach Blast is also easy and ergonomic, which makes the Breach Blast an excellent addition to your collection of Nerf Super Soakers.

4. Nerf Super Soaker FloodFire
First released in 2015, the Super Soaker FloodFire is a bit special in the sense that it comes with a hose attachment accessory. This basically means you can attach this blaster to a running hose and fire water continuously while pulling the trigger!
You don’t have to use the hose though. The FloodFire can carry up to 43 ounces (1.27 liters) of water. If that’s not intimidating enough, the 38 feet firing range of the FloodFire is quite impressive as well.

5. Nerf Super Soaker FreezeFire 2.0
The 2017 Super Soaker FreezeFire 2.0 is the successor of the first FreezeFire that was released in 2014. What sets the FreezeFire 2.0 apart is its attractive, edgy design and its impressive performance. With a bit of effort, you can blast a water stream almost 40 ft away.
This water blaster can hold up to 20 ounces (0.6 liters) of water. Why is it called FreezeFire? The reservoir has a large enough filling hole such that you can load ice cubes for an extra chilly experience for your enemies!

Water blasters will always be popular because they are tons of fun. And Nerf has done an excellent job keeping the Super Soaker brand alive by continuously designing new and unique water blasters.
While water guns in general may look very simple, the technology behind the original Super Soaker prototype was actually quite sophisticated. So if you’re looking for some fun this summer, go ahead and grab yourself one of these Nerf Super Soaker blasters, you won’t regret it.
