A review of ArmoGear Laser Tag, a set of sophisticated home laser tag blasters with vests and wireless infrared features.

ArmoGear Laser Tag, also called ArmoGear Laser Battle, is a two- or four-player home laser tag set with wireless infrared blasters and small vests with targets. There is an option to upgrade to a set with LED functionality or purchase accessories to enhance the laser tag experience.

In this review, I am going to walk you through some of the top features, and I will share my thoughts on this product.

You can purchase the ArmoGear Laser Tag set on Amazon.

What Is ArmoGear Laser Tag?

Owned by US-based toy company NessToy, ArmoGear Laser Tag is an exciting laser tag set that includes great-looking, sophisticated laser tag guns and small vests that serve as targets.

The blasters are rich in features and have special light and sound effects. The vests are, in fact, optional, so you can play laser tag without wearing them, as the guns themselves also have target sensors.

  • MULTI-PLAYER, MULTI-AMMO 🔥 Up to 4 teams can play in this riveting battle!...

The guns aren’t much different from many other products you’ll find online. They often have a very similar design with a similar set of features. Some come with vests, while others don’t. Some offer LED functionality, while others don’t.

Speaking of LED functionality, ArmoGear Laser Tag is also available as a set with digital LED score display vests and rechargeable batteries (more on that below).

In regards to target vests, if you know me, you’ll know I’m not a huge fan of playing laser tag with vests. But I will say that the ArmoGear vests look pretty cool and are comfortable to wear. And generally, kids do like playing with vests.

5 Reasons to Buy ArmoGear

Let’s go through some of the best features of ArmoGear Laser Tag.

Read my list of best home laser tag sets so you can see how ArmoGear stacks up against the competition.

1. Weapon Modes with Sound Effects

Perhaps the best feature of this laser tag set is that you can use the guns in different weapon modes:

  • Pistol
  • Shotgun
  • Machine gun
  • Rocket

Each weapon mode has its own ammunition levels and total number of shots you can fire at once.

How much damage you can do to your opponent in the form of stealing lives is also different for each setting. The heavier your weapon mode, the more damage you can cause, but the less ammunition you have available.

This makes choosing the right weapon mode a bit more strategic. You can change this setting during play as many times as you like, but you will have to reload each time you change the weapon mode.

What’s great is that the sound effects include a voice-over, and that voice will tell you which weapon mode you’re using, how much ammunition you have left, and much more.

Where sound effects with some laser tag products can sometimes be considered a bit annoying, the sound effects with ArmoGear are actually pretty cool and value-adding.

2. Multi-Player Capability

Another excellent feature of ArmoGear is that it allows you to play with four different teams, each with its own identifying color.

This also means you can add more ArmoGear laser tag guns to a battle, and all guns will work nicely together. In other words, if you have eight players lined up, you can purchase eight blasters, and everyone can play.

To select the team you’re going to play with, simply keep pressing the little button on the side of the blaster above the weapon mode button until your preferred team is selected.

3. Invisibility Mode and Night Vision Flashlight

In addition to the wireless vests, two more features set ArmoGear apart from most other brands and home laser tag sets. Both invisibility mode and night vision flashlight are pretty cool features that do add value.

Invisibility mode is exactly that. It’s a feature that allows you to turn the lights on your gun and vest off, so you can try to hide your location. When used, you will remain invisible for 15 seconds. You also light up right away after getting hit by the enemy.

The night vision flashlight is useful when playing in a dark environment. Using this feature generates a light stream from the front of the blaster, which helps you navigate better in the dark.

4. Upgrade to LED Set

One of the most technologically advanced home laser tag sets is the ArmoGear Laser Tag Set with LED vests and rechargeable batteries.

The blasters are pretty much the same as the standard set, but the vests contain a digital score display feature, which is pretty cool.

Another big pro of this upgrade set is that the blasters have built-in rechargeable batteries. A charging station is included to charge the batteries.

5. Add Accessories

To enhance the laser tag experience, ArmoGear offers a bunch of accessories that buyers may be interested in.

The most interesting accessory is the spider bug target, which can be used for solo play and target practice. The spider target can move around, adding some fun to the experience.

Other accessories you can choose are inflatable barrels to create a laser tag battlefield and a carrying case to safely store the guns and vests.

Final Thoughts

ArmoGear offers a home laser tag set that will excite kids as well as adults, with great features and special sound effects. The guns are easy to use and look great, and the vests are pretty comfortable.

As I mentioned, for me personally, the vests aren’t necessary, but I can certainly see how others, especially kids, will appreciate wearing ArmoGear vests during laser tag battles.

The upgraded version with LED score vests and rechargeable batteries adds a lot of value for a very reasonable price.

  1. I noticed the most important thing about Armo Gear was left out the fact that they have spiders to shoot against, and three and one drones to fight against, allows people to play by themselves if they have no play mates.

  2. I’m looking for a laser tag system for the kids this Christmas, I’ve got a different laser tag game for them in the past, however it wasn’t very accurate (easy to shoot around corners).

Just wondering how accurate this version is?

    • Hi Mark, yes unfortunately with infrared the accuracy isn’t always the best, and I think you may find that accuracy with Armogear is very similar.

Have you tried the Nerf Lazer Tag Phoenix LTX? They’re pretty decent machines and accuracy is better.
